What a wonderful morning!
Friday, 21st April 2017
Today, a group of students from the Czech Republic and
from the UK have come to CENP to attend a few presentations and afterwards take
a walk along some interesting and well-known places around the centre of
Madrid.
CENP students in the first year of Communication
Studies were invited to introduce ourselves to our guests and accompany the
group on their walk. After a brief
lecture by our MD, Mrs Mercedes Carreño, which ended with some video
presentations, we took off at about 11 a.m.
It was a lovely morning and the sun was shining bright. We had planned to take our visitors on a guided
walking tour towards the heart of the city, so we walked down to “Paseo Pintor
Rosales”, along which there are bar terraces where one can have a drink and
lounge in the sun reading a newspaper.
We also saw the “Temple of Debod”, which is
an ancient Egyptian temple. From there,
on to “Jardines de Sabatini”, “Royal Palace” and “Plaza de Oriente”. Afterwards, we walked along calle Mayor and
saw “Plaza de la Villa”, “Mercado de San Miguel” and, of course, “Plaza
Mayor”. Our walk with the group leaders
ended in “Puerta del Sol”.
An explanation of each of the monuments and
sites visited was made by the Spanish students, quite a challenge preparing
this information in English! We learned a lot about the city and about leading
a tour.
The group dispersed at Puerta del Sol, but the
group leaders went one way, and all of us, Spanish, British and Czech students
went together to grab a bite to eat and have the opportunity to get to know
each other better.
A very productive morning that was!
